Perineum


Perineum Anatomy

The perineum is situated in the pelvic region, and it could be recognized by the anus or the external part of the genitals. Perineum could be recognized in its diamond-like shape when seen downward. It has 2 parts that create its borders namely: symphisis pubis and the coccyx.

It is separated in a triangular form, and that area is the urogenital triangle and it surrounds the muscles of the pelvis. The back part of the perinium is separated by the anal triangle.

The perineum serves as connecting point for the scrotum and the penis.
